Yohani is a Sri Lankan singer, songwriter, rapper, music producer, YouTuber, and businessperson who had started her career in the entertainment industry by recording covers of popular songs and uploading them on YouTube. She had first started to get recognized after posting a rap cover of a popular song titled Deviyange Bare. She shot to global fame in May 2021 after releasing her cover of the 2020 Sinhala song Manike Mage Hithe. As of September 2021, that particular video on her channel had crossed the mark of 125 million views and she had also become the first Sri Lankan female singer to surpass the mark of 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube. Owing to her father’s military position, Yohani grew up shuttling frequently between different places and military bases in Sri Lanka.

She had developed a keen interest in music as a child, and it was her mother who had encouraged her to pursue musical training rigorously.

She was also actively involved in sports during her school days and was an accomplished swimmer and water polo player. At Visakha Vidyalaya, she was a school colors holder.

Following months of recording covers, in March 2019, she had joined a local record label called Pettah Effect.
