Patricia Heaton is an American actress, producer, and comedian. Her roles include the shows Thirtysomething, Room for Two, Someone Like Me, Women of the House, Everybody Loves Raymond, and The Middle, the films Memoirs of an Invisible Man and Beethoven, and the made-for-tv movies A Town Without Christmas, The Goodbye Girl (2004), and Front of the Class. She hosted and produced the culinary program Patricia Heaton Parties.
She is the daughter of Patricia Helen and sports news columnist and reporter Charles Walter “Chuck” Heaton, Jr., who was a sportswriter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Patricia is married to English actor, producer, and director David Hunt, with whom she has four children.
Patricia is a practicing Catholic.
Patricia’s paternal grandfather was Charles Walter Heaton (the son of Edward W. Heaton and Annie T. Smith). Charles was born in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio. Edward had deep New England roots, and was the son of James H. Heaton and Jane E. Green, who was born in Pawtucket, Providence, Rhode Island. Annie was the daughter of Irish immigrants, James Smith and Sarah.
Patricia’s paternal grandmother was Alice May McDermott (the daughter of Michael McDermott and Mary O’Hern). Alice was born in Amherst, Ohio. Michael was born in Ohio, the son of Irish parents, Cornelius McDermott, from Kilsarcon, County Kerry, and Julia O’Connor. Mary was born in New York, also to Irish immigrants, Stephen O’Hern and Mary Flynn.
Patricia’s maternal grandfather was Joy Seth Hurd (the son of Charles Seth Hurd and Mary Hogan). Joy was born in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, and was a judge in Ohio’s 8th District Court of Appeals. Charles was the son of Seth Ray Hurd, whose grandfather and great-grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War, and of Susan Paxton. Mary was the daughter of Irish emigrants, Simon Hogan, from Kilkenny, and Mary Minogue.
Patricia’s maternal grandmother was Frances Elizabeth Mary Stimmel (the daughter of Clinton L. Stimmel and Mary F. Massey). Frances was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Clinton was the son of John F./Thomas Stimmel and Elizabeth Reinhart/Reinhardt, and had deep German roots in the U.S.
